The Congressional Agritourism Caucus was founded in 2020 by former Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton to highlight the contributions of agritourism to the economy and educate members, congressional staff, and the public about the challenges and opportunities facing the agritourism industry to help Congress make more informed policy decisions.
Members of the Caucus are united by their strong support of the agritourism community and their understanding of its significance to preserving rural economies and communities across America. From u-picks to wineries, farms and ranches generated over $1.2 billion in income from agritourism services in 2022, and this number continues to grow. There are agritourism ventures in all 50 states that generate jobs and tourist dollars that boost agriculture and the larger hospitality industry while also allowing farmers to diversify their incomes.

"I relaunched the Congressional Agritourism Caucus with the idea that members of Congress and agritourism producers would benefit from agritourism becoming a bigger part of the conversation around agriculture on Capitol Hill. Farmers in Virginia are being squeezed by high land costs and the consolidation of family farms into large operations—agritourism helps farmers stay independent and resilient. My family loves visiting working farms in Virginia and I want these farmers to be represented by members of Congress and staff that are educated and passionate about their operations.
